FAQs

How often should I bathe my dog?

The American College of Veterinary Dermatology has said that there is no commonly accepted standard of bathing frequency. This is because there are so many factors to consider when determining how often a pet with normal skin should be bathed. The lifestyle of the dog can affect the frequency, as dogs used for hunting or those who spend more time outdoors require more frequent baths than those who spend most of their time indoors. Additionally, dogs with thick coats tend to accumulate oil and debris, requiring frequent baths.

For a healthy dog that has no skin irritation, bathing as needed is most appropriate. For dogs that have skin issues, or allergies it is best to speak to your veterinarian to determine the cadence at which to bathe your dog. They will also be able to advise on specific shampoos that will help their conditions. Lastly, always read the product label of the shampoo you are using prior to use, thoroughly to ensure it’s being used appropriately and according to the instructions.

I heard that essential oils can be harmful to pets, are your flea and tick products safe?

Our flea and tick products are carefully formulated at an appropriate therapeutic inclusion rate, using high quality ingredients. These inclusion rates are safe and effective when used as directed and are created under state-driven regulations and the EPA.

Each animal is unique, and a test spot application should always be conducted and carefully monitored prior to a full body application to ensure your pet isn’t sensitive to the product. We recommend that you work with your trusted veterinarian on a flea and tick prevention plan that works best for your furry family members and their specific needs.

Can I combine the Cotton Spice Flea and Tick products with other flea and tick treatments?

Our products have not been tested for use in conjunction with any other flea and tick product. It’s important to only use our product as directed, and not in conjunction with any other flea and tick medication. The safety of the pets we serve is of utmost importance to us, using multiple flea and tick treatments could lead to overexposure causing health concerns. Please reach out to your veterinarian for any use of multiple flea and tick treatments on your pet.
